Who actually comes into my home?
Happy Maids cleaners are W-2 employees of the company — background-checked, trained on our payroll rather than on your floor, and covered by workers’ compensation. They are not subcontractors and not gig workers assigned by an app. The company is fully insured and bonded.
A standard visit is a team of two. Homes over roughly 3,500 square feet usually get a team of three.
The part most people never think to ask about is time. Cleaners clock in and out through an app tied to your address, so the clock cannot start or stop anywhere else. The time you are booked for is the time spent in your home, and it is checkable.

What is included in a maid service visit?
Five things happen in every room on every visit: cobwebs, vents and baseboards; the bin emptied and relined; touch points cleaned; dusting worked high to low; and floors vacuumed, then mopped. On top of that, the kitchen and the bathrooms get the detailed work, because they take the longest and are where a cleaning service is judged.
Happy Maids does not clean floors on hands and knees. Floors are mopped in detail — into corners, along edges and up against the baseboards. Hand work goes where it changes the result: cabinet fronts, doors, frames and trim.
Some jobs sit outside the service at any price: no laundry, no walls or ceilings, no chandeliers, no carpet or steam cleaning, no exterior windows, nothing higher than the second step of a two-step ladder, and no moving heavy furniture. The published policies page lists the exclusions in full.

- Bathrooms — toilet cleaned base to lid and behind the pedestal, tub and shower scrubbed, glass and tile worked for soap and mineral film, shower door track, sink and counter, mirror, and the chrome dried by hand so it does not spot
- Bedrooms and living areas — beds made, horizontal surfaces dusted, mirrors and glass tops, fan blades and light fixtures within reach, stair rails and spindles, blinds, sills and ledges
- Laundry room — washer and dryer exteriors, sink and faucet, surfaces, fixtures and floor
- Every room — switch plates, door handles, door frames and handrails; bin emptied and relined; floors vacuumed with sealed-HEPA machines, then mopped

Do I have to have the whole house cleaned?
No. You choose the rooms, the tasks and the schedule. Most people do not know this is an option, so when money gets tight they cancel the service instead of asking for a smaller version of it. A smaller clean at the same standard is nearly always the better answer.
Say it once and it goes on your file. A preference you mention in April is still being honored in November.

How often should a maid service come?
Every two weeks suits most homes, and it is what the majority of Happy Maids clients choose. Weekly fits a house that is genuinely in use — children, pets, a kitchen cooked in every night. Every four weeks fits a quiet house, or one that is empty half the month.
On weekly and every-two-week schedules Happy Maids holds the same team on the same day. On every-four-week and one-off work you get the same familiar team whenever scheduling allows, which is a real difference and worth knowing before you pick.

How much does a maid service cost?
Happy Maids prices by what a home actually takes, not by a package. Recurring maid service is a flat rate built from the size of the home, the services you choose and the condition it is in. Initial and deep cleans, move-in and move-out, and post-remodel work are charged hourly and pro-rated every ten minutes.

What happens if the cleaning is not right?
Tell Happy Maids within two business days and we come back and re-clean the area free. If it is still wrong after that and the fault is ours, you get a full or partial refund. That is the whole guarantee, written down rather than implied.

Is a maid service the same as a housekeeper?
Not quite. A maid service is a company that sends a trained, insured team to clean your home on a schedule. A housekeeper is usually one person working for you directly, and the older use of the word covers laundry, dishes and errands as well as cleaning.
Happy Maids cleans. No laundry, no errands, no childcare, and no sorting, organizing or deciding what you keep. How do you get in if I am at work?
Most Happy Maids clients are not home, and that is the normal arrangement rather than a special one. Leave a garage code or an electronic door code on file, or use a free secure lockbox that we provide.
Three things worth knowing before you set it up:
- Tell the office the moment a code changes. If the team arrives and cannot get in, that reserved time is charged, because the slot has already been given up
- Alarm systems — turn it off for the visit or share the code, and the team sets it again on the way out
- Pets — tell the office beforehand. A crew that feels unsafe around an animal will not stay
Can I book a maid service for just one cleaning?
Yes. A single visit is a normal booking — no schedule attached, nothing to cancel. People book one for family arriving, a house being photographed for a listing, or a stretch when they cannot do it themselves.

Should I tip the cleaners?
It is never required, and nobody’s wage depends on it — Happy Maids cleaners are W-2 employees paid by the company. If you would like to tip, we suggest 10 to 20% of the cost of the cleaning.
