Apartment & Condo Cleaning in the Northwest Chicago Suburbs

Happy Maids cleans apartments and condos exactly the way it cleans houses — kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, floors — in a smaller footprint. There is no contract and no package to lock into: book a single visit, or weekly, biweekly or monthly service, and change it when your life changes.

The short answer

Is cleaning an apartment different from cleaning a house?

No — the rooms are the same, there are just fewer of them. Happy Maids works the same order in a condo as in a five-bedroom house: cobwebs and fixtures first, then surfaces and touch points, then floors last, so nothing that falls lands on something already finished.

Smaller does not automatically mean quicker. One bathroom used by two people every day takes more work than a guest bath nobody touches, which is why condition matters as much as square footage.

What you get

What is included in an apartment cleaning?

Every room gets the same five things without being asked: cobwebs, vents and baseboards; bins emptied and relined; touch points cleaned; dusting worked high to low; floors vacuumed and then mopped. On top of that, room by room:

  • Kitchen — counters and backsplash, sink and faucet, cooktop and knobs, microwave inside and out, refrigerator and dishwasher exteriors, cabinet fronts spot-cleaned, table and chairs
  • Bathrooms — toilet cleaned base to lid, tub and shower scrubbed, sink and fixtures, mirrors, counters, doors and trim
  • Bedrooms and living areas — horizontal surfaces dusted, wall art, stair rails and spindles, doors and trim, blinds and window sills, beds made
  • Ceiling fans and light fixtures — cleaned where a two-step ladder reaches
  • Laundry room — the room itself: washer and dryer exteriors, sink, surfaces, floor. Happy Maids does not do the laundry
  • Floors — vacuumed with sealed-HEPA SEBO machines, then mopped in detail into corners and edges. We vacuum under what we can reach without moving anything heavy
  • Trash — bins emptied in every room and relined where liners are left out
  • Mirrors — included. Interior windows are an add-on, not part of the standard visit
Extras

What costs extra in a condo or apartment cleaning?

A handful of jobs sit outside the standard visit because they take real extra time. Ask for them at least one business day ahead — add-ons cannot be attached on the cleaning day itself, because the schedule is already built around the time booked.

  • Inside the oven — run the self-clean cycle a day before, if the oven has one
  • Inside the refrigerator — empty it out first; a full fridge means the job gets dropped
  • Inside cabinets and drawers, once they are emptied
  • Interior windows, within reach of a two-step ladder
  • Vacuuming inside a sofa
  • A linen change, charged per bed — lay the clean set out first
  • A finished lower level
No contract

Do I have to sign a contract or commit to a package?

No. Happy Maids works at will, with no implied contract, and you can stop at any point. Pick a one-time cleaning, or weekly, biweekly or monthly service, and change the rhythm when it stops fitting.

One thing to know rather than discover: changes and cancellations need two full business days' notice. Less than that and a late-change charge applies, because a cleaner's day was already reserved and can no longer be filled. Moving a visit earlier or later with proper notice costs nothing.

Access

Can you clean while I am at work?

Yes, and most clients are out. Happy Maids works from an electronic door code, or a free secure lockbox we provide, so the team is not waiting on you.

Two practical notes for a building: tell the office how the team reaches your door, and let the front desk or management know to expect them if visitors need clearing.

  • Closed-door policy — leave the door closed on any room you want skipped, open on any room you want cleaned
  • Alarm — turn it off for the visit or share the code; the team sets it again on the way out
  • Arrival window — an automatic text goes out three days and one day before with an hour-long window. The day is guaranteed; the hour is an estimate
  • Floors clear — shoes, toys and clothes off the floor means the time booked goes on cleaning rather than on moving things
Who comes in

Who actually walks into my apartment?

Happy Maids cleaners are W-2 employees — background-checked, paid through training, covered by workers' compensation. Not subcontractors, not gig workers picked up per job. The company is fully insured and bonded, and has been cleaning in these suburbs since 1985.

In a small space you notice who has been in it, so the checks are worth naming.

  • Cleaners clock in and out on a location-verified app tied to your address. They cannot clock in from anywhere else, so the time booked is the time spent
  • A questionnaire arrives by text or email as soon as the cleaning finishes, while you can still see what you are answering about
  • New hires stay with a trainer who re-checks their work until they can work independently
  • A traveling supervisor spot-checks work in the field — once in a while, not on every job
  • 100% satisfaction guarantee — tell us within two business days and we re-clean that area free
  • All supplies and equipment come with the team, including the vacuum
Renting

A note for renters moving out

If you are leaving a rental, the visit that protects the deposit is a different job from a regular clean — it happens after the furniture is gone and it reaches inside the oven, the refrigerator and the emptied cabinets.

Read how a move-out cleaning differs from a regular visit, or call 847-382-0082 and give the office your key-return date to work back from.

Straightforward pricing

What does apartment cleaning cost?

Happy Maids prices every clean by the time a home honestly takes — square footage, how many bathrooms, and the condition it is in right now. Two very different homes should not pay the same number, so we do not pretend they do.

Run the quick estimate for a ballpark, then call us for your exact price — free, no obligation, and a real person answers.

  • Home size & baths — the two biggest levers.
  • How often we come — recurring visits lower the per-clean rate.
  • Add-ons — inside oven or fridge, interior windows, and more, on request.

You don't have to have the whole house cleaned. Plenty of clients have us clean only the rooms they use, alternate floors between visits, or skip tasks they handle themselves. Read what you can change.

Common questions

Do you clean condos and apartments as well as houses?

Yes. Happy Maids has cleaned apartments, condos and houses in the northwest Chicago suburbs since 1985, and the room-by-room work is identical.

What changes in a smaller place is the plan, not the standard — fewer rooms, the same order of work, the same finish.

Is there a contract or a minimum number of visits?

No contract. Happy Maids operates at will — book one cleaning or an ongoing schedule, and stop whenever you want.

The one rule worth knowing: give two full business days' notice to change or cancel a visit. Inside that window a late-change charge applies, because the cleaner's day was already held for you.

What is included, and what costs extra?

Included: kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living areas, the laundry room itself, dusting, touch points, trash out, beds made, and floors vacuumed then mopped in detail.

Extra: inside the oven, inside the refrigerator, inside emptied cabinets, interior windows within a two-step ladder's reach, vacuuming inside a sofa, a linen change charged per bed, and a finished lower level. Ask for these at least one business day ahead. The full room-by-room list is on the Happy Maids cleaning checklist.

Does a smaller apartment cost less than a house?

Usually, yes — but size is only one of four things that set the price. Happy Maids prices a recurring visit as a flat rate based on the size of the home, the services you choose and its condition, and how often we come.

Condition is the one people forget: a bathroom in daily use takes longer than a bigger one nobody enters. Get a ballpark from the estimate tool, then call 847-382-0082 for the real number.

Do you clean inside the oven and the refrigerator?

Yes, as add-ons — they are not part of a standard visit because both take substantial extra time.

  • Oven: if it has a self-clean cycle, run it and let it finish a day before we come
  • Refrigerator: empty it out as far as you can. If it is still packed, the job has to be dropped
  • Either one: request it at least one business day ahead, not on the day
Do you bring your own supplies and vacuum?

Yes. Happy Maids provides every tool and product used in your home, including sealed-HEPA SEBO vacuums, so nothing is drawn from your cupboard.

If you would rather we used your own products, tell the office beforehand. The teams are trained on our products, so we cannot promise the same result with something else, and anything you supply is used at your own risk.

Can you clean my apartment while I am at work?

Yes. Give the office an electronic door code, or use the free secure lockbox Happy Maids provides. Most clients are out during the visit.

Leave the door closed on any room you want skipped — a closed door means the team does not go in.

Do you clean the laundry room, and will you do a load while you are there?

The room, yes. The laundry, no. Washer and dryer exteriors, the sink, the surfaces, the trim and the floor are all part of a standard visit.

Laundry and folding are excluded services across the whole company — there is no version of a Happy Maids visit that includes running a wash.
