Serving Mount Prospect
The 1951 ranch is still in there, under a second story added in 2004
Happy Maids has cleaned houses in Mount Prospect — ZIP 60056 — since 1985, from our office in Lake Barrington. The water is the easy part: Lake Michigan water everywhere inside the village, moderately hard at about eight grains, so shower glass and chrome pick up a light film and nothing worse. Winter is the harder season. Road salt on clay soil comes in on every shoe from November through March and hazes entry tile, storm door glass and window tracks, so entry zones get mopped in detail every visit and doors, trim and baseboards get hand-washed on a deep clean.
The village filled in one farm at a time and the houses show it. Axel Lonnquist platted Prospect Park in 1925, H. Roy Berry platted Castle Heights in 1926, brick ranches went up from 1948 into the early 1960s, and Brickman Home Builders brought the split-levels of Brickman Manor. Median year built is 1969. Most of those postwar ranches were never torn down — they were built over, so a house that still reads as a ranch from the curb can run 2,800 to 3,500 finished square feet. The old half has original hardwood, plaster and painted-shut casings; the new half has drywall, tile and tall glass. They take different cloths and different time, which is why we would rather walk the house than take a bedroom count over the phone.
A third of the homes here are not houses. Some 35.4% of units sit in buildings of five or more, from Colony Country on Parliament to Huntington Commons and the Boxwood Drive walk-ups, so buzzer entry, freight elevator hours and where the crew can park shape the schedule as much as square footage does. People are often home here too — nearly one in five residents works from home and 18.7% are 65 or older — so tell the office about the home office that cannot be disturbed or the shoes-off entry, and it goes on the job before the team arrives.
Why Mount Prospect homeowners choose us
Peace of mind, not just a clean house
It comes down to what we carry through your door. With road salt tracked in all winter, a lower level that has been damp at least once, and a house shut tight, that is the difference between looking clean and breathing clean.
Non-toxic green products
Safe for kids, pets and allergy-sensitive homes — on every visit, not an upgrade you have to ask for. If a surface in your house needs something specific, tell us before the first clean and it stays on your file.
Sealed-HEPA SEBO vacuums
German-built commercial machines with allergy-grade filtration. They pull fine dust, dander and pollen out of carpet and hard floors instead of firing it back into the room.
Color-coded microfiber
A cloth used in a bathroom never touches a kitchen counter. The colors are the system, so nothing has to be remembered on the day — and nothing travels between rooms.

Straightforward pricing
How much does house cleaning cost in Mount Prospect?
Happy Maids prices recurring cleaning in Mount Prospect at a flat, predictable rate built on square footage, bath count, and the home’s current condition — a one-bath unit at Colony Country and a built-over ranch on We-Go Trail carrying 3,500 finished square feet should not pay the same number. Here the tax record and the actual work often disagree, which is why we would rather see the house. One-time deep and move-in/move-out cleans are quoted by the time they honestly take.
Run the quick quote for a price range, then call us for your exact estimate, free and with no obligation. First visits on a house that has been a while often start with a deep clean, and we say so up front rather than after.
- Home size & baths — the two biggest levers on the price.
- How often we come — recurring visits lower the per-clean rate.
- Add-ons — inside oven or fridge, interior windows, and more, on request.
You do not have to have the whole house cleaned. Plenty of Mount Prospect clients have us clean only the rooms they use, alternate floors between visits, or skip tasks they handle themselves. See what you can change in a cleaning plan, or call and we will build one around your home.

Mount Prospect questions, answered
Feel confident before your first clean.
Clear expectations make it easier to welcome a new team into your home.
We called it a three-bedroom ranch, but there is a second story on it now. Does that change the estimate?
Yes, usually by a lot. Mount Prospect’s postwar ranches mostly were not torn down — they were built over, so a house that reads as a ranch from the curb can be 2,800 to 3,500 finished square feet with a second floor and a two-story entry. We would rather walk the house than take a bedroom count over the phone, because here the description and the actual work stopped matching about twenty years ago.
Our lower level took water once and it still smells musty. Can you do anything about that?
Yes, though it is maintenance rather than remediation. Five waterways cross the village and the Village states plainly that many houses outside the floodplain still get sewer backup during heavy rain, so finished lower levels here often have carpet that has been wet at least once. We run sealed-HEPA SEBO vacuums over it and hand-wash the hard surfaces around it, which pulls out the dust and dander feeding the smell. Active mold or standing water is a restoration contractor’s job, and we will say so rather than clean over it.
We are in a condo, not a house. Do you clean those?
Yes. About a third of Mount Prospect’s homes sit in buildings of five units or more — Colony Country on Parliament, Huntington Commons, the Boxwood Drive walk-ups — and we clean them regularly. Tell the office about buzzer entry, freight elevator hours, loading-dock rules and where the crew can park, because in a building those details shape the schedule as much as square footage does.
Half our house is 1954 plaster and original trim. Will you damage it?
No. Original plaster, painted-shut casings and 1950s trim take less water and a lighter hand than the drywall and tile in the newer half, and we clean them that way. Cabinet fronts, doors, trim and baseboards are hand-washed rather than dusted over, hard floors are mopped in detail, and the green, kid- and pet-safe products we use every visit are mild by design. Tell the office which rooms are original and both sides get treated correctly on the first visit.
Do you bring cleaning supplies?
Yes — products, cloths and sealed-HEPA SEBO vacuums, all included. Green, kid- and pet-safe products are the default on every visit, not an upgrade you pay extra for.
Are your cleaners employees?
Yes. Everyone who enters your home is a background-checked W-2 employee of Happy Maids — not a subcontractor and not gig labor. The company is bonded and insured.
What happens if something is not cleaned correctly?
Tell us and we come back and re-clean that area at no charge. That is the 100% Cleaning Guarantee — we would rather hear about it than have you quietly not book again.
