Most of the village treats its wastewater in a leach field on the lot, so bleach and caustic drain products are off the table here — green, kid- and pet-safe products are our default anyway. Acre lots under oak and maple canopy mean pollen in spring, leaf litter in fall, and salt haze on hardwood and entry stone all winter. We are on a private well. Does that change how you clean our house?
Yes, and it changes it house by house. Well water here reaches your fixtures through your own softener at your own state of maintenance, so the mineral film on your glass is not the same as your neighbor’s. We set the product and the dwell time to what your surfaces are actually doing rather than running one script across the whole village.
Why does our shower glass look nothing like our neighbor’s, on the same street?
Because you are not on the same water. Two-thirds of Hawthorn Woods draws from private wells, and every well house softens and filters its own supply, so hardness varies address to address inside one subdivision. Mineral film comes off a layer at a time over several visits, and we never use anything harsh enough to etch the glass, because that damage cannot be undone. Once the enclosure is clear, a regular schedule is what keeps it clear.
Do you use bleach? We are on a septic field.
Not as a matter of course. Chlorine bleach and caustic drain products kill the bacteria a septic field depends on, and here that field is yours — most of the village was built on individual septic rather than sanitary sewer. Our standard products are green and septic-safe. If there is a specific product you want used on a specific surface, set it out and we will use it.
Do you clean homes in Hawthorn Woods Country Club?
Yes. It is the one large neighborhood in the village on Aqua Illinois water and sanitary sewer instead of a private well and septic field, so those bathrooms deal with a different film than a well house a mile away.
