More than 6,000 of those ranches went on to fill Woodland Heights, and half of Streamwood’s 13,420 homes are still that 1957 three-bedroom — one or two baths, no lower level to expand into — so the wear lands in the kitchen and the one or two baths instead of spreading out. Three-quarters of the village was built between 1960 and 1999, which means grout, tub surrounds and caulk lines at or past the end of their lives: they will come clean, they will not come back new, and we say so at the estimate rather than after the visit. West of Bartlett Road the houses change — Oak Knolls Farms and the 1980s-to-2000s subdivisions are two-story work with basements, more baths and more carpet.

Our house is on a slab with no basement. Does that change the cleaning?
Yes, more than anything else in Streamwood. The original village was built slab-on-grade — houses trucked in flat from Indiana and bolted onto concrete — so the furnace, the water heater and the washer and dryer all live on the floor you are cleaning, usually in a utility room off the kitchen. We treat that room as a room: vacuumed and mopped in detail on every visit, with the surfaces hand-washed on a deep clean rather than dusted. There is no stair-and-door barrier between it and the bedrooms, so skipping it is not really an option.
Do you clean townhomes in Streamwood?
