Do you clean the older lake cottages in the Country Club Additions?
Yes, and they get handled differently. Those houses started as 1920s summer cottages off the Dole estate and were winterized and added onto for a century, so they bring odd floor plans, original woodwork and older bathroom tile that needs gentler products. They also carry beach sand from May through September, because the Gates have their own private beaches and docks.
Do the oak neighborhoods need cleaning on a different schedule?
They benefit from one. Blocks around Veteran Acres, Sterne’s Woods, Brighton Oaks and the lake are oak and hickory, so May brings catkins and a yellow-green pollen film on sills, storm-door glass and patio doors, and October brings leaf litter. We put window sills, tracks and interior glass on a spring and fall rotation in those homes, which the treeless west-side subdivisions simply do not need.
